Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one will know if we were good men, or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. But all that matters is that two stood against many. I know that battle pleases you crom, so grant me one request. GRANT ME REVENGE! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

We have something in common...I've been on a number of C130s...LOL!

I did 2 tours in Germany for a total of 9 years (1975-79 and 1999-2004). I also went over for about 3-4 vacations and a couple more for business trips.

Sorry to hear about the loss, I'm sure more important things are gone too, so I won't make a joke.

I have at least 200 glasses and mugs (remaining). I went through them last year and donated over 50 of them to my daughter's Thrift Shop at the nursing home where she works. She said they all sold out in 3 days.
Well you may have crossed paths. I don’t know what years he served but he was in Vietnam. He did tours in Japan, Germany, Italy, and Norway or some place like that. He is pretty much fully disabled now from being exposed to agent orange, it caused a ton of health issues. A couple of guys that flew with him have died of brain cancer. Who would have thought that flying around in a plane with a giant radar on it might be a bad idea LOL.

I was 17 (1972) when I volunteered for Nam, but they never sent me...it was drawing down. I had 2 uncles who went to Nam. One died a few years ago from skin cancer (most likely Agent Orange).

A story I've heard about another uncle was he didn't want to go so the Feds picked him up and took him away in handcuffs. He was sent to Nam and got addicted to drugs. When he came back he was in a straight jacket. I don't know how much of that is true, but within 6 months he ODed. They found his body under an overpass in South Philly.

I've been to Aviano AFB in Italy a couple of times in the 90s.

I went to Norway for a Foreign Military Sales mission in 1997. (We sold them Mine Clearing Equipment...5'2" rocket and 1800# of C4 strung like sausage links...BIG BOOM! One of the systems I used to manage).

MiCLiC!!!!
I LOVE that system! (I was a combat engineer before I became a pilot).

Funny. You were a SAPPER? Where were you stationed?

Yes, the MICLIC (for the rest of you readers: MIne CLearing Line Charge). I was the Equipment Specialist for it at Rock Island for a couple of years.

Story goes, back in '93 they had 20 some "failures" at 25 attempts to fire them in Korea. Me and another guy wrote up a Pre-Fire Checklist for it and went over there (in March '94).

(At a range close to the DMZ), we let them set up and tell us when they thought it was ready to fire.

We, using our (already tested) checklist, inspected it to see if it was ready to fire. We found several errors on both MICLICs that would have given them 2 more "failed to fire" stats.

When we were done with our inspection we pointed them out and showed them what they did wrong and taught them how to correct them. They put them on the firing line and had 2 successful firings.

When I was stationed in Bamberg I supported the MICLIC (and the Volcano) for the 2 Engineer Bns. Before that the Engineers at Ft Bragg. As well as all their small arms and other equipment.

Ok how about this one....

“Character 1-What are you looking at?

Character 2-Oh, the silent majesty of a winter's morn... the clean, cool chill of the holiday air... an a$$hole in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer...”

Yes!
I was in the reserves in PA from '94 to '97, then active at Ft. Lewis: A/65th EN BN - sappers for 25th ID (one BDE was at Lewis, while the rest was in Hawaii) from '97 to '99. We were light (sappers) back then, but I think they've all gone Stryker now.

I went to Ft. Lewis about 3-4 times, but not during your calendar.

Been to Hawai'i 3-4 times also, maybe 5. Twice strictly for vacation. The first time was in 1997.

It's a really short list of Army "forts" I haven't been to for one reason or another. The same goes for camps, posts and stations. Every soldier has a weapon. LOL!

LOL! That's Christmas Vacation... Cousin Eddie draining the RV...

GO AGAIN...

A little south? That would be England.

Ironclad...I liked it. From what I remember, King John goes after the people who made him sign the Magna Carta.

A lot of people think our Constitution is based on the MC, but that's a loose translation/assumption.

The MC said NOTHING of the common people, only the rights of the rich landowners. (Now that I said it out loud, they might be right..."a Govt of the rich , for the rich and by the rich...". LOL!)

EDIT: I've been to the Field of Runnymead where the Magna Carta was signed. There's a plaque there noting that JFK visited there also.

Bingo.

Conan?

It’s totally unfamiliar, so I’m just taking pot shots at movies in ancient setting with a lot of traveling involved.

Not Conan. Your comment on "ancient setting" goes back too far (chronologically speaking) and there is a lot of traveling around. So, you're on the right track...if a wheel doesn't fall off.

The Donner party is the first thing that came to mind.
Not any particular movie, just the Donner Party in General. lol.
