Not to bash this thought...But hey! If no one ever tries ideas that seem bad, then think of the great things we would be missing out on. Sheesh im sure there were people back in the day that thought fermenting barley juice and adding "eww" bitter hops was a surefire way to waste time.

I think you should try it, and post pictures :ban:

I agree with this statement in general, but not in this instance. medically, its not good for you to "speedball" even if its with alcohol downs and caffeine/ginseng ups. Brewing wise, it might be impossible to use actual energy drink. then once you leap that hurdle, you are tasked with making something drinkable out of 2 very contrasting flavors. It just seems like a whole lot of work. Now with that being said, IF you are really REALLY wanting to make this beer, do it. maybe just like a 1 gallon test batch? But IMO, the best this can turn out would be a mikes hard lemonaid-style drink and at WORST a B to the Eth power clone...

Speedballing with beer/caffeine isn't as dangerous as everyone says, so long as you don't take it to extremes.

Obviously, only do it if you're healthy, and do it responsibly. And know it's a risk, and you're responsible for your own actions.

Though, IMO it's a crappy version of a speedball.

Beernoisseur quote made me loll

Had me in stitches, that did.

so I slept on it a little.. lol

I like the orange flavor of the Kaos monster drink. but read the acid in orange doesn't work in beer or something to that effect. So I'll be searching to see how to get an orange flavor to a future brew. But was thinking of simply adding some B vitamins. b6 b12 and such and also search Natural vitamins that permote attention like bee pollen, ya know things like that.

So in a way it'd be more of a vitamin, orange extract brew than a monster brew..

FreeM80s would this still be considered a "speedball"?

na. beer has a ton of b vitamins already. Its the caffeine/ginseng/taurine/etc. mixture I am not fond of. It could just be me being too cautious after the whole ephedra thing a few years ago maybe. So long as you are not adding stimulants, no speedball. But like you said, you can totally achieve the flavors you are looking for. You can use sweet or bitter orange peel, or orange extract. This thread got me thinking about making a "sour" I am pretty sure the sour flavor in energy drinks is from citric acid(vitC) so I am thinking about brewing a sour pale ale. make a regular pale, ferment it, throw some vitC in it then keg and force carb in case the pH kills the yeast. Maybe a little orange in mine also :mug:

I have a whole jar of powdered taurine. It's a little bitter but probably wouldn't taste like much in a beer.

I bet you can get powdered supplements or tinctures of anything you'd want to add.

I don't think the vitamins would make it a speedball, but the herbs may.

Since I started the thread does that mean you owe me a couple bottles of your sour brew. :D
I think I would throw the orange flavoring (like the peel or shaving the orange peel like they do when cooking) in a second fermenter after the first fermenting did it's thing. that way I don't kill any yeast????
I searched orange in the extract area but there was a crap load of threads to read through. LOL

I was thinking of stopping over to the GNC at lunch but got busy. :( Wanted to pick their brain about vitiamins ans other supplements.

Personally I'm staying away from any of these caffeine/beer ideas. A few years back a couple of friends decided to experiment with getting drunk purely on Sparks (which is gross by the way). The end result was that they woke up the next morning not only with large headaches, but a mouthful of sores.
Doesn't sound like my kind of fun.
