Does this look like mold? It seems to have "spread" on top of the scoby. This is my second batch of booch. I brewed it immediately after the first batch.

Would the tea being too cold/too warm cause mold to grow on the scoby?

Can I "save" the scoby?

During the second fermentation of my first batch I used mason jars and there were some "baby" scobys that formed in the mason jars. If the moldy scoby is no good can I use the new baby scobys?

This is really frustrating

That does look like mold - in which case you should discard the entire contents of the jar (scoby included). Good news is that yes - you can reuse the baby scoby from your 2nd ferment but hopefully you didn't add any flavorings to it as ideally you want your scoby to be as "pure" as possible (only from tea + sugar). If you need a new scoby I'm pretty close to you (Kane County) so let me know - I just started a new continuous brew setup but should have extra scobys available in a week or so...
