I ordered three hop varieties from a website and the order arrived in three bags, so I assumed each bag contained one plant. After planting each order in a separate shallow trench (maybe separated by 5 ft), I realized that I had two rhizomes in each bag.

My question:
Should I bother with unearthing the recently planted rhizomes so that I can replant each plant a few feet apart? They've been in the ground for maybe a couple days, so I don't think the roots would be firmly established at this point. I do have the space to run each bines in separate directions, but I'm concerned that the roots might be competing for nutrients.

Thanks!
Pete

You ordered 6 plants total of three different varieties?

If you want 6 separate plants, then yes, I'd say you should dig up the rhisomes and replant.
