I am making a clone of LH Milk Stout and it calls for rice or oat hulls....what exactly do these hulls do?
drpackuc said:They help prevent a stuck sparge - they just provide bulk to keep junk in the mash from clogging. Your recipe probably calls for adjuncts that don't have their own hulls, this just keeps it from forming a sludge that the wort gets stuck behind.
