Hi Everyone!

I've been in Istanbul for a year and I'm tired of drinking Pilsner.

I contacted every major and minor beer supplier I could think of to try and import something better, and failed miserably.

Now, I'm working on my first batch, with many more to come, and couldn't be happier!

Thank you both!

I'm from Michigan originally, but my wife is Turkish so we're here for a while. The Pilsners are... Well I don't care much for Pilsners in any case, but I find them sweet and light.

Being from the Midwest with all the craft breweries, I miss strong hoppy beer. I'm working now to find somewhere to import malt from. That's basically the missing piece for me.

Very. But it seems like the Turks like it just fine. I guess most haven't been exposed o other varieties.

Turkey's not a part of the EU, is it? In any case, it might be easier to import malt from Germany or somewhere in Europe than from the US (you've probably already thought of that).

And a good hoppy Pilsner, with bracing bitterness from the noble hops, is a thing of beauty. But it probably has little to do with the light, mass-produced light lagers available to you commercially.

I'm intrigued by the Pilsners you've described. I'll check into that. Turkey isn't in the EU, but I do think German / Belgium / French hops are an option. Need to do a bit of research.
