I've had great success switching my bittering additions to galena to save some money on hops. It is a very neutral flavour and at ~14% AA you don't need much anyway. For the english IPA I did on sunday I used about 30G (~1oz) for ~60 IBU. I needed only about ~1/3 of the amount compared to bittering with EKG which I had done previously.
 
Pliny has 68 IBUs. They calculated it by gas chromatograph at one of the Washington hop seminars. I hate quoting it for all my references, but this is talked about on the IIPA Jamil show where they go over the Pliny clone.

I couldn't disagree more! There are a number of folks that have made beers with only late hopping and while the bitterness is not huge, it is most definitely there.
