I'm brewing my first pLambic using the Dawson's Kriek kit from Northern Brewer. This uses a Wyeast 3278 smack-pack. I pitched yesterday, and woke today to this strange monstrosity in the fermenter. What the heck is this? Is this normal? The airlock ain't bubblin' and this doesn't look like a pellicle (at least I don't think so). Kind of stringy, kinda like a Metroid.

Yup... Metroid Infection. That's the Mother Brain.

After you destroy it you will have to perform a complicated jumping puzzle to escape the self-destruct, only to find that you are actually... (gasp!) a GIRL!

My kid says maybe you can use a Fire Flower against it, but he doesn't know much about home brewing.
