Hi, I am new to brewing. My first batch was good! I used a 1 gallon glass jar.
For my second batch I decided I would try the 2.6 gallon drink dispenser I have. I didn’t really think about the spigot being an issue. It’s plastic with a chrome looking finish.
It’s been fermenting 12 days now and the ph is 3.5 so I decided to taste it. It tastes good but then has a horrible metallic after taste!
What can I do? Is it a lost cause? I don’t mind dumping, I’m just afraid I damaged my scoby!

If it's got white plastic threads and nut on the inside then the chrome is just plating on the outside and should not effect the tea. When new the spigots have oils on them from the molding procedure. I always soak and use a brush with Dawn dish soap. I think the scoby would be ok , you'll know on the next batch
