Anyone own an older Mercedes?

Been looking for a cheap late 60's, very early 70's model project to restore once I finish my Jeep build which is going to be soon thank god, been forever!

It will be really soon. I've been spending all my spare working on it and taking photos then plan to do the write-ups all at once.

Nothing too out there on this build unlike my last one. The engine work has been the most time consuming so far.

I use to drive a dark blue 75' 240D. Awesome car, but crazy slow and smoked more than a cheech and chong movie. My sister decided she wanted to wreck it one day. It was way out of our budget to fix it. Sold it for scrap and made out pretty good. Good luck on finding one! They're classics.

My dad had a 1968 250SL .. Nothing but headaches he sold it last fall to a guy in Canada. He was still able to get most everything for the car from M/B but everything was big bucks . The later cars may have been better.

Look something like this? It's about the body type I'm going for. I found one for $1200 on Craigslist but it sold within a hour of being posted.

Yup thats the car ... 1200 dollars ?! I would have been all over it the rear bumper ends are 700 each in decent condition . Decent grill 1.5 to 2k .With these cars rust is a major problem in the frame and rear pan areas . But that shouldn't be a problem if it was always a TX car


My dads was a nice car he got 27k for it . He bought it from retired military guy that was stationed in Germany. The guy totaled his Mustang and because the they were so expensive there he was able to buy the M/B new. His had all metric gauges and was a 4 speed which is very desirable. Also by the standard trans model not the Auto there not very desirable

That looks just like the one the owner of my wife's company drives. I'm not up on those cars, but the style is very similar. He's driven it as a daily driver for a long time now. He's owned quite a few very nice cars over the years and still he likes to drive that one a lot.

I think he bought a used Bentley last summer, but he keeps it out in California where he lives now.

EDIT: On second look, I am pretty sure his is a newer model. Probably early 80s.

It was in real rough shape but I'm looking for a project I can build over time.

27k is crazy. I suppose it was flawlessly restored?

It was ... and always looked good in the trailer I have seen some go for much more than my dads . I think one on Barrett Jackson went for like 75k

We have been doing cars for a long time and this is my favorite car. My SS Chevelle is a close second
