Measuring liquid extract from 50kg/110lbs barrel

Hey all,

I'm looking to buy liquid malt extract in bulk which would come in big 50kg/110lbs barrels. Given how sticky this stuff is I'm wondering how to go about measuring the ~5lbs or so that will be used in a batch without too much mess or waste. Anyone have experience with this?

My LHBS has spigots on the bottom of their bulk extract barrels. They then just free pour the extract into a container on a scale. It's not messy at all!
