If I understand your question correctly, yes! Its all about scale and having properly sized equipment. I've actually been thinking of building a small MLT specifically for making ~2G batches so that I can test recipes before brewing larger batches. (10-15G)

Why build? Just use a Rubbermaid water canister...the gallon/liter markings are already inside.

Pretty much what I mean by "build"... I plan on doing exactly that; buying a small water cooler and making a manifold for it. I'll probably buy a 5G water cooler though instead of a smaller 2G one simply to give me options for 2G-5G batches. The cost between the 2G and 5G coolers is not significant! My 72Q and 120Q MLT's are just too big for the smaller batches...
