This is the rule.

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=471585

Starting today there will be a revision in our rules.

We will now be allowing discussion in regards to using Marijuana / Cannabis as a brewing agent on the forum.

What does this mean? You can discuss it in regards to brewing, but any open discussion of the recreational use of Marijuana outside of brewing will be removed. Please do not post pictures of your grow setup, or anything outside of the art of brewing, nor can you discuss the growing, or techniques of growing.

Marijuana is still illegal in some states, so I do ask that those discussing it be limited to the laws of their individual states. As I do not know all of them it will be to you the member to decide your state's legal application of marijuana laws.

OK, I'll bite... how does this cause explosions?

As a Washington native that really sounds more like a meth production issue.

At the risk of being late to this party look up bho (butane hash oil). Not the only way to go, but definitely dangerous. Esp when done indoors (like people do where its illegal or cold)

MOST states unfortunately.

It tastes fine if you make a good base beer.

Being from CO, I have a tad more flexibility when it comes to experimentation. I've settled on a homemade, cold alcohol extract (1oz finely ground/5gal) from a strong sativa into a highly flavor and aroma hopped low ABV pale. That combo seems to be the best way to give the cannabis a position in the beer. In most other combinations, either the effects of the cannabis are minimal (especially if hybrid or indica strains are used) compared to the quick onset of alcohol, or the grassy/vegetal flavors make the beer taste bad.

One can certainly make a very nice beer with cannabis, and similar to many other brewing ingredients, it is worth experimenting with.

You Sallys saying beer+weed makes you feel funny need a better setting. ;)

Yeah, to make concentrated oil you basically force a gas like butane through a column packed with cannabis. If the butane gas ignites that packed column of cannabis basically turns into a pipe bomb.

I remember reading something somewhere, at some time, about an old-style coffee percolator, weed, and some dry-cleaning fluid that sounded especially hazardous.

Seems like a lot of work to me...

Thc is only fat and alcohol soluble. That's why butter and brownies work. Tincture is the way to go. I would not heat the tincture to avoid extra oil extraction. Just grind it fine, shake a bit every few days, and give it time. Use some torrified wheat to offset head retention issues. I second the oatmeal stout, or ipa recommendations. Orrrrrr, a marleywine.
If u were to add it to the boil, I'd figure a pot stand at 180-160 would do it. But then you could have infection risks.

To be honest it's actually pretty easy. In Oregon where medical marijuana has been legal for some time and is now completely legal as of July 1st, they sell glass tubes for making BHO extract that are compatible with canisters of commercial butane. My neighbor made some and I helped out - the process is surprisingly easy. Basically you just run the butane through a tube into a "drip pan" that catches the liquid butane and extracted cannabis oil. After you've collected everything evaporate the butane using a hot water bath leaving only the oil behind. Certainly much, much easier than making beer IMO.

I'd add the leaves, not the flowers, in the last 15 min... Activate the chemicals in the Trichomes and sterilize, without denaturing the THC and it's friends.

Once again, the rules:

You cannot post pics or info on the following things.

Growing
Selling
Smoking
Trimming
Curing
Paraphernalia
Tinctures

Really anything having to do with marijuana.

What you can do:

Include it as an ingredient in your recipe, and post the directions for use. You cannot say "Add Hops, then smoke a joint" so please don't try it.

I'm really pushing the legal acceptability of it, so I ask you guys respect my outline so we may continue to discuss it.

Please, follow these rules or we will disallow any discussion of it as an ingredient.

OK.
Does anyone have a "detailed" recipe including Marijuana for effects not taste. That will also taste good and please include and tincture directions etc

Also, thc is not alcohol or water soluble so you will get no effects from it.

This is wrong. Tinctures exist and do extract THC. Google green dragon.

If I had to make a recommendation to the OP, I'd say to make a tincture and add at packaging. "Dry hop" if you would like, but extraction of THC specifically will be close to zero. Other compounds may be extracted, but you won't know which ones or in what quantity, and it will be mostly a flavor contribution.

We don't discuss anything "having to do with marijuana" except to use it as an ingredient.
We are not able to discuss how to make a tincture. And so on.
