i just built a new manifold for my mash tun today (used to use a braided hose) and i used half inch i.d. cpvc and was wondering if i went to small.i am brewing now and i'm batch sparging now and it seems to be awfully slow flow.should i upgrade my pipe size or is this ok?

You didn't mention how your manifold is set up. I set up my 1/2 inch CPVC manifold like this. The only exception is I drilled 1/8" holes through the pipe about every 1/2 - 3/4 inches instead of cutting notches. Never a problem. No stuck sparges and never use rice hulls.

BTW - I have a coleman cooler as a MLT

A manifold is really suited for fly sparging where you want a limited flow. If you're batch sparging a short piece of some type of screen should be all you need. I've always fly sparged so don't have any personal designs for your situation.
