I found some CPVC pipe and fittings while cleaning out the garage and I thought I'd convert my old bottling bucket into a mash tun. Does the manifold have to lay directly on the bottom of the bucket? If it's off the bottom an inch or two will it greatly effect the amount of wort I can run off?
Also would it work much better if used elbows and tees to box it out around thee bottom or would one piece of pipe coming straight off the spigot work well enough?
I think I'm going to make Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale from the recipe data base, it seems like a good one for a first time all grain.

Thanks, think this will work OK?
