I have a 10 year old sealed pack of dry malto dextrin been sitting in my cupboard. I was thinking about throwing into my ordinary bitter I was brewing this weekend to give it a little more body or should I just toss it?
For the price of new maltodextrin, I would toss it. It is not worth the risk of screwing up a batch of beer that will cost you more if it is no good and that ruins the batch.
Idk,I have a bag of maltodextrine in the pantry with my other dry brewing stuff. It's still sealed,& looks as good as new, still white & loose in the bag. And it's a couple months old at least. If it looks fine,it should be in my estimation. It's also used as an artificial sweetener. Just not very fermentable by yeast. So if it makes you feel better, use it to sweeten something else.
