Malted popcorn question

Hi all new member here still kinda new to brewing and im trying to malt some purple popcorn for a beer its been a week still no germination and the corn now has a aweful cheese smell coming from it temp is just under 70f is this normal or should i toss it thanks all and cheers

Normally the seeds will germinate in about 2 days. The process should be to soak for 10-16 hours then lay on damp paper towels. If it's been a week for you, toss them.
