has anyone tried this and if so is it any different than using normal win yeast ?

I would also like to know if using food flavoring concentrate is safe in mead if im being too lazy about making my own fruit mead and wanted to see how extracts would taste in it ?

Will it work? Probably. Will it be good? Maybe. That said, there are a wide variety of tried-and-true wine and beer yeasts that are readily available at most homebrew shops that I would recommend long before any "super" yeasts. Even bread yeast is suitable for mead, given the right conditions (see: Joe's Ancient Orange Mead). That said, if you want to try it out, give it a go.

As for using flavorings, if it's safe to eat then it's safe for mead. Most fruit concentrates, purees, and fruit wine bases are perfectly suitable to be used in mead. I recently used Vintner's Harvest Blackcurrant concentrate, and it came out great. If by "food flavoring concentrate" you mean some kind of artificial flavoring/additive, however, then I'd recommend adding a bit to a glass of mead first to see how it tastes before adding it to an entire batch.

ok thanks for the advice and with the food flavouring I just found some on amazon when searching for wine concentrates so I was not sure if it would be ok for the mead like I said I wanted to see what kind of flavor to expect from it before i make one with real fruit
