Hi guys, I'm onto my second batch as a newbie. Was wondering if I could half the quantity of Coopers Family Secret Amber Ale from 23 liters to about 11. I've read somewhere here that halving the brewcans increases the bitterness. Would this be true for the Amber Ale? If this were to work, would I then just use half the quantity of malt extract and yeast? I wouldn't want to alter the flavours too much by halving it. Would really appreciate your guys' thoughts.

Cheers
Stuart

I learned the hard way!But I brewed a large can of Cooper's Real ale as a 3 gallon batch. No extra dme,lme etc.It came out WAY too bitter,to the point I have to mix it 50-50 with store-bought lite beer in order to drink it. I cant' say what using half the can would give you, but 2.5 gallon isn't far from 3 gallons. In any case Good Luck.

Figured as much. I'm not keen on adding brew enhancer either. I guess I'll just play it safe with a full batch unless anyone else has a different experience. Thanks again.
