Magic Hat Jinx clone anybody?

Anybody have a recipe for the Magic Hat- Jinx?

i don't know of a clone recipe, but Jinx is a pretty straight-forward scottish ale with a touch of peat smoked malt in it.

Forgive my ignorance...but what is peat smoked malt? What kind of flavor/color does it give? What kinds of beers generally use it?

what is tastes like: scotch whisky. the barley used to make scotch is smoked with peat.

what kinds of beers use it: scottish ales, mainly. it's potent stuff, so a little dab'll do ya.. like an oz or two in a 5 gallon batch.

I've gotta say, I'm having one of these right now and I guess it's just not my bag...pretty boring beer IMO. But then again, people say that about Hefe's and I love them!

I'd say any mild scottish/brown ale, lightly hopped around 20 IBU, with around 2oz of peated malt would be close.

I'm going to try to kill this sixer during the NCSU v UMD game and replace the fridge space with a stout.

I like Jinx a lot. Honestly it is a weak Scottish Ale--but very drinkable. I could drink it all day.

Pretty surprising coming from the hophead I know you are. It might be the peated malt that puts me off, I generally don't care for it (or Scotch, for that matter).

I'm actually drinking one right now! Great beer. I think I can taste some molasses.
