M J ca lager yeast

Lots of speculation. No one really knows. I have used it with success.
 
Whatever it is, it makes solid beer. I used it in a California Common last year, and may do another one this year, though I think it might be an interesting yeast for a Biere de Garde.
 
Lots of discussion about it in the warm-fermented lager thread. I doubt it's S-23, because in that thread, people report having success with the MJ CA lager but not with S-23.
 
I was hoping it was either the Ca lager yeast itself or something similar so I'd have the option of using it at the mid 60s or low 50s.
