Anyone know any stores that sell keg lube?? The closest LHBS is a little ways away and I don't even see it on their website. I will call and ask if they sell it but I figured I would check to see if anyone knows of any place that sells it. I guess maybe kitchen supply stores or something but anyplace else??

Thanks!

You can always buy it online but it seems you are looking locally. If not Austinhomebrew or brewmasterswarehouse.

I think you can go to lowes/hardware store and buy some lube in the plumbing section made to lubricate orings and seals. It should be food safe.

Yea sorry. I fogot to mention that I was trying to get the lube quickly for my batch that's ready for the keg in a couple days. I didn't want to have to wait for shipping. I will try Lowes or HD. I assume the lube should say whether its food sfe or not on the tube. Thanks

You can use mineral oil in a pinch.

Yeah if they go through the trouble of making it food safe I'm sure that slap it on the package. Some people use vaseline as well in a pinch.

I use vaseline. It only takes the tiniest of amounts. I only ever use it on the keg post outer o-rings. A tiny, tiny dab rubbed between my fingers and then only a fraction of that on the actual o-ring is all it seems to take to get the QDs on/off super easy.

And hey, if Stephon Marbury can swallow big dallops of the stuff it can't be that bad...no wait...scratch that. Dude's whack.:D

EDIT: also; no double-dipping!;)

Well if its safe to use on plumbing, I think you'll be ok

I lube the o-ring AND the inside of the QD. ;)
Why the inside of the QD? Just curious. The only time I ever need it is so that the QDs will slide on/off with ease (as you know, without lube sometimes they can be a bear). But IME it only takes the tiniest of amounts on the o-ring (because that's where all the friction is); and the o-ring will actually deposit a tiny, tiny amount on the ID of the QD when you slide it on.

I'm probably a bit too lube-phobic. At my job we disassemble/refurbish/reassemble all kinds of components that have o-rings and I constantly see the techs over-lubing. It only takes a tiny, tiny amount.

Regarding the 'personal lubricants'...as I said earlier: NO DOUBLE DIPPING!:D
