Low Pressure Propane Supply

I've been a little disappointed in the output to my BG-14 burners on my stand. I'm feeding from the propane tank through a Camco 2-stage regulator rated for 160,000 BTU/hr through a 5' x 1/4" hose into 1/2" BIP.

which with 350,000 BTU/hr and a 1/2" NPT output should remove the flow restriction I'm suspecting is happenning.

Isn't your supply line a bit small (and long)? Not getting enough volume I suspect.

+1 as well, I think your problem is the line is too small. Not sure how your present system is set up but I would use 1/2" pipe and 3/8" line to the burners.

Mmm. Agreed.
But I do have 1/2" pipe to the burners, it's just the 1/4" line that feeds from the tank to the BIP that I think is the issue. I'm limited on what will work as output from the regulator has only a 3/8" FPT fitting.

The Fisher regulator threads directly onto the 1/2" BIP and comes with a 1/4" flexible high pressure pigtail to the tank. Which wwould solve any flow restriction issues I think!

Just in case anyone is following this thread...

I picked up the bigger regulator, but sadly little improvement has been observed. My keggle boils, but just. Kinda simmers more than any rolling boil.

I'm left considering two options

1) swapping out the flexible appliance connector hoses for something larger. They are the smallest diameter (of all the) fittings. Although they have 1/2" fittings, I think they are smaller ID, maybe 3/8".

2) switching to high pressure propane. I believe I could just swap the orifices, but I'll need some needle valves as the ones I have are all-in-one units like the Hurricane LPG valves.

I've modified since I took this photo, but the appliance supply line to the burner is visible on each end of the BIP.

Is that a kink in the hose? Have you checked for spiderwebs?

If your left burner is running in that pic, it's way too yellow. Should be blue (lacking oxygen).

No kink. It's just a bend seen from an angle.

Maybe. I took this photo about 5 months ago. That burner usually runs OK. Just yellow tips on the flames. The other has been harder - I had to mofify the orifices to get enough air in to get mostly blue flame.
