I've read a lot of people talk about the hop flavor decreasing after a short while in the bottle. I just sampled one thats been in the bottle for only 4 days and it was amazing. Everything about it was perfect for me (except carbonation level) . I have some friends back home (im away at college) that have been wanting to try some of my homebrew for a while now and i want them to experience the flavor i did today. Should i expect the hop flavor to decrease as it carbs up?

Hops will fade with time not really due to the carbonation. I would say the carbonation would actually help with your perception of the hops as the aroma will rise to your nose via the carbonation and head.

That said, time is the real enemy. Enjoy your hoppier beers while the are young. I mainly brew beers that are "hop forward". While the hops have faded over time, the beer should still be quite enjoyable even a few months later. I tend to get the hoppier beers in the fridge as soon as I AM CERTAIN the carbonation is ready to help preserve the aroma.

Cheers!

I do the same. I notice the hops start to fade at about a month bottle conditioning is complete. I try'n fridge my hoppier beers (so most of 'em) when I feel bottle conitioning is complete. I try to drink them fast to, but I think that's just cuz I love beer!

My first ipa's i just late hopped. If your talking about this i noticed it awesome after a week of bottle conditioning. Then after a few more weeks it actually was somewhat disapointing but still good. Its hit and miss sometimes ive had some hop flavors aroma not shine untill fully carbed and a good 5 weeks too,so.
