I have been making wine for years and have always been interested in homebrewing. I was recently given an old Keg and Corkscrew brewing kit. I am looking to start my first batch soon however I don't have much time and money to invest. I would like to start with a ready to go set of ingredients and a little instructions. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Huh. I'll be damned! That looks a lot like a new version of the 1G wine making kit pop got years ago that he had me make wine with. Worked well for wine making. I say give it a shot. Just hope you use a blow off though, with a 5G kit, that's only .5G of head space. But the 1G kit worked perfectly with one gallon of wine fermenting away in it in my day. Wore that thing out!

Yes it is a 5.5 gallon fermenter with drop in bags. Here is what I have

. Im not familiar with mashing and the sort so ide like to use some very simple ingredient kits until i understand the process.

Also this bag of hops is at least 22 years old. I do not plan on using the yeast, but should I use these hop pellets?

No, save them though maybe you'll want to experiment with later batches. Make an Old funk ale, lol.

I posted a picture of the contents of the kit but i suppose because of the image it must wait moderator approval.

In an unfortunate set of circumstances, I only have one bag. I am afraid I won't be able to find new bags. I may however be able to fabricate myself a new fermenter and use the other equipment I already have.

seems like you should be able to find a bag that would work somewhere.

If you don't plan on using it.. and want to devote it to science, brew a pale with what it came with, and see how it turns out, if you make a starter with the yeast, they might come back to life, and it would certainly be of interest to me and probably a lot of folks here.

I may try it on some hops wine or on some ingredients I can scrape up. But I have someone invested in my brewing adventure so I'm going to try to make a good ale... extract style.
