Looking for input on a Bourbon Barrel type Braggot

I'm looking for anyone who has made such a thing personally and what were your thoughts?

I'm prepping to make a 5 gallon batch and tinkering around with the idea that it would made as a still mead. I do like my bourbon barrel stouts and do love my High ABV meads.

Just looking for some insights or links to recipes people have used and feedback from their venture.

I will be aging the batch for a year.

Recently I made a bourbon barrel session style at 5%, doing it again i would go for higher abv

To get the flavor I soaked a few oz oak chips in enough bourbon to cover them for about a week then added the oak and bourbon into secondary.

Personally I liked it but most non whiskey drinkers couldn't stand it

You need to upgrade your friends then....The mead sounds awesome....
