I started home brewing a few months ago and want to start better controlling my fermentation temperature. I have a controller made and want to use it with my mini fridge, but none of my fermentation vessels fit in it. I make 2.5 gallon batches and have a 3 gallon Better Bottle which is too tall. I am looking for a container that can hold 3 gallons or so but is shorter/wider. Have any of you come across something like that? And before someone suggests it, i have considered getting a chest freezer, but I am a college student who lives in an apartment and I would prefer not to need to move another large appliance at the end of the semester.

You may want to look at Mr. Beer LBKs (little brown kegs), or BrewDemon 2.5 gal. "conicals".

I wish i didnt get rid of my mr. beer keg, that would definitely fit. I would be scared that I would need a blow off tube if I try 2.5 gallons in it though. I wonder if i could rig one up. Also, i have never seen the Brew Demon conicals, they look awesome though. I sent in an email to see how tall they are, so that could work too.

The BrewDemon Conical is 16" tall and just over 9" wide. It also has a vent hole in the top that you can add a blow off tube to if you wanted. I have a review up on www.beerborg.com if you want to know more.

A 3 gallon bucket should fit. I got a bunch of them from the bakery at the grocery store, with lids, for free. They previously held peanut butter, frosting, and strawberry filling. Stay away from pickle buckets, though!
