Hi,

I am a relative beginner and have done a few coopers homebrew kits with decent success but now I would like to go for something a bit more specific if possible.

I really love the Sam Adams Boston ale and also their Octoberfest beer. They have great caramel flavours which I have yet to be able to find in the Coopers kits.

I have the coopers fermenter and equipment and would like to try and produce a similar beer to the forementioned with the equipment I have. Now I just need a recipe if someone would be kind enough to provide me with one.

Cheers!

what kind of access do you have to ingredients? can you get grains?

Octoberfest is a lager, which you can't do without a way to control fermentation temps, and keep them low. If you are indeed referring to the Sam Adams Boston Ale, not the Boston Lager (which is their most popular beer) a quick Google search brings these up:

If, on the other hand you mean the Boston Lager, then you'll need fermentation temp control for that as well.

The Boston ale is the one I'm looking for at the moment. I have decent access to grain from my LHBS. I'm in Ireland so we have a few HBS's but wouldnt be as significant as the stores stateside..

For October fest, look under the recipes section, under amber ale. BM's October fest is very close to Sam Adams last year's October fest. The best part is its not lagered. I say last years because this years Sam Adams October fest is horrible from what I tasted. Last years was much better. I have BM's October fest on tap now and it has the profile of an October Fest.
