Here's the scoop. I have to visit southern ca for a family thing in May. Very limited time frame, but hoping to hit a local for lunch on the way up to Idyllwild.

Looks like the only one on my router listed as open for lunch on a Friday is Wild Donkey in Redlands

There are a couple others along my route, but they don't open until later in the day.

So, any strong opinions on Wild Donkey?

They didn't show in my initial search. Their hours match my schedule. Anything in particular to try?

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like they are within 2 miles of my route (10 to 79)

Also check out ritual, they are across street from donkey punch(their original name). Dreges is a cool local speakeasy style place. Hangers orange wheat was their claim to fame, but the Betty is solid and I like their choc porter. My company is based in redlands so I visit often. Let me know if you need more local spots.

Oh hanger might not have food, but stop by cucuas or el burrito and get a carnitas burrito and eat it there, or casa Maya which is near hanger.

No, I can't say that I do, but I've heard the name. It's a small town, though, so my guess is I've seen him around but have never met him. Shoot me a PM when you get up here and perhaps we can get together and talk (and drink) beer. If you want, I can take you over to the pub site and show your around. Not much to see inside yet (it's gutted), but I can show you the plans and all the work that's been done on the exterior.

If you like "Idyllwild Brewpub" on Facebook, you can keep up with our progress. I post an update on a fairly regular basis.

Cheers,

Don, you've been liked. Uncle has been up on the hill since the 70s and I spent several summers there in the 80s. If I get some free time, I'll message you, but I really anticipate it all being family stuff. I'm sure things have changed since I last spent any serious time there in 87 or so.
