I have some rice hulls that were stored in a plastic bag in a cupboard and are about 1.5 years old. I'm brewing my first Hefe tonight, are the rice hulls still ok to use?

Those should last a long time, especially stored in a plastic bag. Mine are in paper and still good after that amount of time, I rarely use them anymore.

I've kept them in a lose lidded plastic bucket and they're fine. All they do is act as spaces in your grain bill, they work sort of like eating bran or other high fiber works in our intestines, just a bunch of rough stuff that won't break down. So they really don't "do anything" that they'd lose potency for. As long as they haven't gotten wet, or got mildewed they are fine.
