Anyone drove a long distance with beer before?

I will be driving home for the summer, from Seattle up to Alaska. I have 2 cases of BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde I wanted to bring on the drive. The Alcan is a pretty rough road with lots of frost heaves so it will be an invigorating journey for the bottles.

I plan on stopping at my families cabin 4 hours north of Anchorage. There will be a bunch of people up there for the 4th of July.
This means the beer will have an additional dirt road and 1 hr boat ride to endure.

Will I have foam bombs on my hand or will a day of ice cooling make these drinkable?

I did do a gelatin secondary on these so the sediment is minimal.

Thanks :ban::mug::cross:

they should be fine. if the road is really jaring you might want pack them specially so they dont break. the sediment in the bottles will be shaken up so they might not be crystal clear but the beer will taste fine.

Thanks guys, there going to be a lot of thirsty people there and I don't want to disappoint.

I'm going to be doing a similar drive but with a keg. Would it be best to force carbonate with CO2 when I get there, or carbonate before and just re-attach the carbonation when i get there?

yeah, you want the beer to be on that blanket of C02. Force carbonate before you get there and then hook it up later.

The beer should be fine... if it gets past the customs officers at the border.

I know peopel who have taken the spare tire outof the trunk, filled it with ice and beer and gone on road trips back in the 70's and 80's.....

oh wait your taking it home....

nm.. check with customs.

Customs allows a you to take one case of beer through for personal consumption. I hope to squeeze two through.......
