So I may have enjoyed a few too many brews while brewing yesterday and I'm pretty sure the temp of the wort was around 75 degrees when i pitched but I'm not sure. I will just leave it be for 2 weeks and see what happens. I just thought it was funny.

Don't worry I'm not worried and if anything I'll just repitch in a couple of weeks.

Don't drink too much while brewing

I had the same problem last week, but I pitched above 85 F! I thought the primary fermentation would be finished within 24 hours, but I saw significant airlock action for a few days. (Yes, I am aware that your can't judge fermentation by airlock activity)
Seems like you are more concerned with the yeast dying instead of off flavors your produce by fermenting at high temps. What type of yeast did you use and was that within the recommended fermenting temp?

yea I think its safe to say that a bunch of us have done that. I usually drink a water every few brews and still make sure to write anything down so I can audit myself along the way.

Hopefully everything pans out for you :)

Pitching at 75 won't kill the yeast, but they may take off like a rocket and finish prematurely. Ask me how I know. LOL 1 too many on brewing day.

It was White labs Irish ale yeast. I'm pretty sure the temp was just under 80 degrees when i topped off with 2.5 gallons more water. I just assumed it would bring it down.

I'm not at all worried I just wanted to share my experience.

On another note: My buddy brought over some Fat Tire Clone that he brewed and we drank it in between Bud lights. God Bud light tastes like crap compared to his home brew.

I got 4 free bottles of Bud Light. I dumped 3 1/2.

Gotta keep the homebrew pipeline full so you don't have to suffer through BMC. At least you were drinking though. :mug: It only makes the brew better.

I only just started 2.5 weeks ago. I have an English Pale Ale in the secondary and just put None More Black Vanilla in the fermentor. As time goes on I plan on having homebrew available at all times.

This morning there is a very nice foamy head on my soon to be delicious stout.
