I have way too many home projects in the queue, but all this beer-making talk makes me want to make the basement bar project the top priority. SWMBO will probably say otherwise, but we can dream, can't we? The previous owner left us a 7' long custom-made bar in the basement, but that's all we have.

I'd love to see a picture or three of everyone's home bar to get some good ideas! :mug: I'm sure we're not the only ones looking to build a bar in a basement with low ceilings and bad lighting.

I've already started searching build threads, and those are great also. But would be great to see a thread dedicated to the topic. :rockin:

We did not make a bar per se, but we have a basement with a low ceiling and was very dingy. With click flooring, new gyproc and paint, then a nice dropped ceiling, the place is a very cool den. The bar will come in time with our kegerator built-in...

Just to say that any space can be made to be comfy and bar-worthy.

Cheers to macabra11 for posting a link to this store...lots of sweet stuff here for home bars:

My basement ceiling is about 7.25 feet high and there is also a bulkhead for furnace ducting that is approximately 6" tall that runs the length of the room. I think I did a pretty good job of keeping the majority of my bar on the same plane as the edge of the bulkhead, it makes it seem less likely that my basketball playing friends will bang their drunken head off it (still happens from time to time).

Building my own in the basement now.

L-Shaped, about 12' wide, 20x15.

Will house my brewery, with cabinets, sink, counters, shelving, fridge.

My cousin owns a liquor store and gave me 20 or so big metal/painted beer signs, ready for the walls.
