to be a full person. Full hip replacement is tomorrow. Blood work-done, ekg-done, x-ray's-done, mri's-done, hospital registration-done. All that is left is the actual surgery. Sometime tomorrow. I spent the last couple of months building my pipeline up since I won't be able to brew for awhile. I'm sure I will be spending a lot of time on here while down! So keep the great posts and education coming and hold a good thought while you're drinking a homebrew tonight! :mug:

You'll do just fine. I've heard the impotency rate from that surgery is down almost to 40%. Nothing to worry about! ;)

Yep! 40 years old. I have a lot of things wrong with my hip! There is a bone spur on the femoral head which has created a cyst on my hip. The labrum (cartlidge around the socket) is torn and the biggest part is degeneration in the bone around the socket. I saw an orthopedic surgeon that said he could the surgery arthoscopically but eventually I would need a new hip. So I got a second opinion from another surgeon who said the same thing. Since a new hip is supposed to last about 20 years, I figured I would go ahead and get it replaced now. Making me still (relatively) young enough to have it done again at 60 without too many problems. Just made sense.

There will defintely be some sort of "gimp" or "crippled" ale in my future brews!

My mom just had both done about 4 months ago, and was back up and moving when she woke up from the anesthesia.

You'll do just fine, and ill have a home brew for you.

Good luck, WGB.

I wouldn't worry too much about the surgery. You'll sleep through it.

Damn right.

I mean, I had my chest ripped open and a new valve put in and I'm the biggest wuss on the planet. And it was nothing.

If I could get through that ****, you can too, Ginger.

Just remember this motto "Painkillers are my friend."

I do love me some painkillers! I'm not too worried about it overall. I have a good doctor so all should be fine. I'm more worried about the SWMBO than myself. She has to take care of me while I'm down!

SWMBO had a complete knee replacement 8 years ago, and she was up and around very quickly. You'll do just fine! Take your meds and enjoy a nap!

I know a guy who had hip surgery and the day after surgery they were walking him down the hall. He said it STILL felt better then the old pain!

Well i came through surgery with no problems. Now its recovery time. Thanks for all the words of encouargement. Once again proving that this forum is about more than just beer; we are a family. A dysfunctional family but nevertheless! Ha

Just noticed this thread. Glad to here you came through ok. My mother had this surgery last month and is doing well, she is just upset that she still is not allowed to drive. Good luck in your continued recovery.

Glad the surgery went well. I'll bet you are thinking about dancing a polka, ya?

The new album? I was skeptical, but it's getting regular play at our house. He's still got it!
I love "Party in the CIA" and "Another Tattoo".
