Lemon peel

So this recipe calls for bitter orange peel which I got from my LHBS and lemon peel. They did not have any lemon peel. Can I just buy a lemon and throw the peel in? Is it that simple or do I need the dried lemon peel? Any help would be great. Thanks.

I would at least zest the lemons. I know with oranges you do not want any of the white pith under the peel.

With all citrus,you only use the zest (colored part of peel). The white pith is very bitter.

I recently used the zest of 3 oranges and 1 Meyer lemon in a 2.5 gal batch of a witbier "style" (substituted us-05 yeast) and it is very prominent. Too me it's a little too orange but my girlfiend loves it.
