I just racked my first batch of beer into my carboy from my bottling bucket. I realized a couple days after I put it in the bucket I should have put it in the carboy first.
Anyway, I filled up the carboy but I have a half gallon or so of beer left...
I really dont like to waste anything...
Suggestions?

Bottle it. Maybe what is left will naturally carb. Store it in a closed container in case of bottle bombs. how long was it in the primary before you racked it to the secondary?

I think it could probably still live in the bottling bucket...just close the lid replace the airlock (or cover the hole if your using the airlock with the carboy).

Great to see another North Texas Brewer! :mug:

That sounds good, Im sanitizing some bottles right now. It was in the primary for 5 days. I didnt get my hydrometer in the mail in time to do all this correctly and take measurements, so I cant be sure, but there was definitely less than a bubble a minute. I had a pretty vigorous fermentation the same night I pitched the yeast. Using an all malt extract kit.
Thanks!

Cool, Im in Denton. I really like the Homebrew HQ store in Richardson, Im sure you have been there.

I think Im going to go ahead and bottle it. If nothing else get some practice before doing the whole thing. Also using the airlock on the carboy.

I sampled some of it, I think it tastes fine?.... :ban:

Knowing it was only in primary for five days, I would go with this idea before mine. Maybe leave it in the bucket for at least another week first.

Wow...you're just right up the road, I'm in the Frisco/Little Elm area! I do like HBHQ...just a hike for us that live up here! I'm gonna have to make a trip down there tomorrow or Saturday though, need some ingredients!

I'm sure your brew will be fine in the bottles...I second the putting them in a container comment...just in case!

Personally, I use all the leftovers in an open fermentation experiment of mine, this gets beer, wine, mead, cider leftovers and samples, etc. It's quite fruity right now, started it last year. Make sure to screen it.

I keep a few Apple Juice bottles around to put the extra beer in and try adding fruit and/or spices. It is an easy way to experiment without screwing up a full batch. The stopper for my carboys fits perfect.
