I just did my first non-BIAB beer and while collecting the wort I got tons of bubbles going into the kettle. Towards the end it was just pumping wort out like a heartbeat. Some would drain, a second would pass, then some more would drain so on and so forth. It was never an even flow, it was just full of bubbles the whole time. This was a 1.5 gallon batch.
I was using about 6lbs of grains. Used 10.5 quarts of water. Sparging now but trying to pinpoint why I didn't get an even flow like I usually see. It was in a cooler with a stainless steel braid on the bottom. Thanks

Oddly enough after my sparge was done I noticed the manifold was not flat against the bottom of the cooler. Half of
It was raised about two inches. Never ran into that before
 
Sometimes if I have a very thick mash, I'll get that issue. Usually means I need to slow my flow or I'll get a stuck sparge.
 
Are you using a pump or just letting gravity do its thing? If a pump, you should have a ball valve on your mash tun so you can control the flow. It won't hurt the pump and ramping down the flow will keep your mash from getting stuck. For context, think of a Slurpee. If you suck like hell on the straw, you'll get a lot of liquid at first and then just air, until the rest of the liquid has a chance to filter down through the ice bits. If gravity, I would look to your manifold, it may be getting clogged.

You seem most concerned about introducing oxygen. Are you brewing LODO?
