I am usually an ale brewer, but want to start brewing lager. I am looking to buy something which is thermostatically controlled to put a 25 litre carboy in to conduct a primary fermentation, and then to lager my beer in. Can I use a kegerator for this purpose (i.e. are the commercial kegerators big enough for a 25 litre carboy? That would be ideal because then I could both make, and then store/dispense my lager with one piece of kit.

I would think a kegerator would work but not sure how the temp control works on these. might not be able to get it up to 50 or so for lager primaries. There is also the option of just a regular small chest freezer and johnson temp control. The DIY forms have thousands of these builds just search fermentation chamber. You could also put taps and whatnot on the chest freezer for dipensing if you whish. I think it might be much cheaper just buying a cheap chest and doing it that way but it depends on how handy you are i guess.

Thanks very much. I usually bottle my beer anyway, so I guess that option works fine for me. Will look in the DIY section. Thanks!
