I brewed an ESB and set aside the amount of gyle Charlie P mentioned in the Complete Joy of Home Brewing to carbonate the beer in the bottles. I did this because I thought it would taste better than the corn sugar to carbonate and cheaper than buying sugar separate.
The gyle is in the frige in a sanitized glass growler. Looking at some of the posts on this they say to boil the gyle for 15 minutes to sanitize, I get this.
Then they say make a starter and add extra yeast. Is there not enough active yeast in the beer at bottling time to carbonate the bottled beer once the gyle has been added?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks .
