Just tried this brew, a Konings Hoeven Dubbel. I've only had one trappist style before this and it was Chimay Quadruple. I was expecting this one to be a downplayed version of that, but I was surprised to find that it was super sweet. This is probably the only beer I've had so far that was this sweet on the finish. Has a smell of almost molasses. There was so much going on in it that I couldn't even get any hits on the notes of flavor because the bottle was gone by then. Has a 1 finger ivory head that never goes away and a murky a amber/onyx color.
One of the best beers I've had in a while. Really starting to enjoy trappist style beers.
