Apparently these are airtight gallon bags that you get filled at the pub, like we do for growlers. Take it home, put it in the machine for fresh draft beer. Supposed to stay good for 30 days. Wonder how much the machine will be... And I wonder how I can get my home brew into the bags without a kegerator.

It reminds me of the BeerTender and the 5L Bell's kegs that my bottle shop sells (only bags instead).

I'm curious to see if bars and breweries would go along with this. Some places won't even fill growlers, and others have strict rules on the types of growlers they will fill.

Apparently in some states its illegal to even fill a growler if its from another bar/brewery.... I don't see this catching on very well once the novelty wears off.

Massachusetts, for one. The purpose is to be able to better identify the origins of the growler contents should that become important (read: drunk idiot doing something stupid).

I don't see this catching on very well once the novelty wears off.

Isn't this just an extension of a paradigm that's actually been around for awhile?

Cheers!

I can't even fathom a situation where not knowing what is in a growler could lead me to "doing something stupid" nanny state strikes again, home of the free my a**.

Growler = $10-20 and you can take it anywhere. This thing = $300, most places won't fill it, kinda limited on where it can go... I don't see it catching on, maybe I'm wrong, who knows.

What?

It's after you do something stupid and the authorities figure out you were drunk, they may go after the growler filler if the circumstances warrant (like, the filler watched you stumble out the door with a growler full of beer).

You missed the other point, too, but that's ok...

Cheers!

It's kind of a cool idea. I guess my only real issue with it is the bags. Are they re-usable? I'm kind of tired of people finding new ways to make more plastic garbage. I'm far from a tree hugger, but that's definitely one of my favorite aspects of homebrewing now. Nothing I use to brew or drink that brew ever makes it's way into the garbage.

And even if they say the bags are able to be recycled, my town won't recycle anything that still has food or beverage in it, it all has to be rinsed clean.

I doubt they would be able to be used again. If so, there would have to be some kind of cleaning and sani process.

.

I don't know...I watched the kickstarter video and they said they intend to make them wifi enabled and that they will transmit statistics back to the brewers. This thing my end up telling on you. :p
