Kettle Markings and Cooling Shrinkage

On kettles with markings are they accurate at room temp or hot temps.

For guys that have marked your own or use a marked stick, do you mark them so they're accurate hot or cold?

My Blichmann sight gauges are fairly accurate at 65°F, not so much at mash temps or higher.
Although once you realize that and have used them long enough for various batch sizes/OGs/etc - especially on the HLT and BK vessels - you'll be making the corrections in your head...
