Nice to see a local, free competition. But the grand prize is a gift certificate and giving up rights to your recipe, not sure if I would want to take first.

Get your name on a beer and get it in WF? Who cares! unless you're going pro, why not get something out of your recipe!

I used to live about 5 blocks from Kelso. I sent them in an email asking if I could either help brew for a day, or just buy a sack of grain from them. I never heard back. Figured that any small brewery that didn't even feel the need to email a local brewer back didn't deserve my time. I've had a few of their beers, nothing special. I know they do most of the contract brewing for Heartland. Again, nothing to write home about.
