I am getting air leakage some where as it's not draining all the way. Next a have a small drip on the temp gage and valve. Will this go away after my first batch. Any good ideas Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

It's absolutely required because liquid doesn't go up hill unless it's being pulled uphill by water going downhill.
