Kegging has made me lazy.

Hey guys.

So I started kegging my brews last Spring, and ever since then, I've been brewing far more frequently, and with far better quality I'm pleased to say. I even stepped into allgrain around the same time, and will never look back. Here's the problem:

Aside from the occasional growler I fill and bring to a friend's house, I feel an overwhelming sense of laziness when it comes to bottling now. Has anyone experienced this after getting into kegging? No more bottles to wash, no more stacking bottles at room temperature for ten days to get that last kick of fermentation in, it's a blissful curse.

Or is it just me?:p

I am not quite qualified to comment at this point as I am still bottling... However I am days away from moving into kegging as my first batch of the new year finishes fermenting. I can only hope your experiences are universal!!!

Just kegged my first batch, and it's carbonating until I can actually get the faucets installed on my fridge. Definitely much easier to fill 1 keg than 48 bottles, and totally awesome to have my own beer in a keg!

I still bottle about 1in 5 batches. As it gets closer to summer, that ratio will go way up as I spend a lot of time away from home and outdoors.

Never did bottle at all. When I realized what a hassle it would be to bottle I decided to go straight to kegging. No regrets whatsoever. If I enter my brews in competition I will bottle but until then I will keep on kegging. Montanaandy

I started out kegging - but have started bottling a batch here or there - and at least a sixer from each batch so I can have some beer hidden away when I suddenly run my pipeline dry.

I keg and then bottle using the "We don't need no stinking beer gun."

I either fill 2liter soda bottles and use carbonator caps, or just fill glass bottles and cap. I only bottle from the keg at this point, and only when I know I am going to transport or give some away.

I started out bottling my brews and it was freakin torture! Its not that bad but we were brewing 5 gallon batches atleast once or twice a week. Thats a lot of bottles! I now brew 11 gallon batches maybe once a week and will either keg most of it or half of it. Really cut down on the workload. :rockin:

I need to bottle beers because I travel a lot (two weeks out of the month) and I am fortunate in the business I am in because we have to load a semi trailer the day before we leave and it meets us at our destination. So you know what that means! Yep, homebrew goes with me everywhere. So much nicer than drinkin cheap beer or spending a ton of money on something that I can brew that is almost the same, sometimes better!

:mug:

I brew more and better since kegging also. Probably because I have more time to refine my process, rather than getting ready to bottle. And Not having to bottle, makes me not dread the final step.

This is what I do with the exception of the 2L bottles. Also if I realize a keg of something that I want to brew again is about to kick, then I'll bottle off the last of it and store it to taste against the new batch. I bottled the last of my AA IPA and Witty Witbier last night.

I didn't bottle a batch all last year after starting kegging in the Jan. I really don't miss the work and I've avoided washing probably 2000 bottles!

I can't wait to have taps flowing... drinking my last 6-pack of homebrew in bottles tonight. Then good old Coors while I wait for my replacement regulator and my kegs to carb. Can't wait. I always dreaded bottling day. Now instead of bottling I just get to brew again. Looking forward to my pipeline not going dry anymore.

I've been enjoying kegging and bottling each batch. I fill up one keg then bottle the rest. This time of year my kegerator is closed for the Winter so I'm working on bottles while setting kegs back for the Spring. This Summer I'll drink the kegs while setting back bottles for the Winter.

I'm lazy, therefor I've always kegged. Never bottled a batch. Started with 5L kegs and went to cornies after 5-6 batches.
