kegging connections - Plumbers tape

Should I use plumbers tape on everything that screws together or limit it to only the gas lines... I'll include with this question the in/out lines for the adapters on the cornelius keg itself.

Note to self - watch them poppits. Not in right and trying to connect the adapters via brut force wrecks the poppits Luckily only one of them...

I have never used teflon tape in this regard. All of my fittings use a nylon washer to create a perfect seal.

I'll start with I got no CO2 yet so...

They tossed in 5 neoprene washers but I'm not quite sure why. Perhaps the regulator into the tank but I think it's a taprite flavor where I wouldn't need that. I mentioned the tape for the regulator and connectors from it (brass). I got a splitter for the out and two regulator shut off valves that screw into the splitter and was going to plumb tape those (they had it on the one shut off valve attached to the reg already) Just wasn't sure about taping around other stuff.... Anyways, can't hurt.

Perhaps its my connections but I don't see where I'd need any washers at all besides the rebuild of the keg ball connectors.

First, I don't use tape on any connections. Most of the connections are compression-type and tape will interfer with the seal. Second, those washers are probably for the tank to regulator connection. Some types of taps will use also washers.

As I mentioned in your other thread, if you use the keg for secondary fermentation, you won't need CO2 at the start, unless you like highly carbonated styles. Welding suppy places are a less expensive source of CO2 tanks and refills. The one I go to just swaps the tank & gives me a new regulator washer each time.

If you decide to build a kegerator, put an extra gas line on the manifold so you can charge up kegs without having to disconnect one.
