Hey, I just inherited all this homebrew stuff and equipment to make a kegerator with. I got the cornelius kegs and that same sanyo fridge a lot of the folks on the boards seem to be using. The process seems straightforward I'm just hung up on a couple things with the CO2. I've got 3 cornelius kegs, and 1 20lb tank... I can fit 2 kegs ez into the fridge but would like to downgrade to a 5lb or a couple 2.5lb tanks so I can get 2 kegs and the gas to fit neatly inside the fridge. In trying to trade down for a smaller tank and someone said I should use a 20oz paintball tank but need to buy some adapter for it. If I'm using the co2 not only for getting the beer out of the kegs but also for getting the gas mixed in the beer is 20oz enough?

Wish I could help you there. I don't have the same model fridge as you. I have the Frigidaire model from Lowes. In that one, I can fit two corny kegs and a 5 pound CO2 tank just fine.

Small tanks are a pita because you go through them so often (every 3-4 kegs). Have you considered leaving a larger tank outside the fridge and feeding the gas line through it?

If you downsize, don't go lower than a 5lb tank...

P.S. I wish I had a 20lb tank!

johnnyO i HAVE a 20lb tank and want a 5lb tank or two 5lb tanks so I can swap one out when needed. anyone located near upstate ny wanna trade me for the 20lb tank?

i have considered having the tank outside the fridge but want this thing to look nice when it's done and don't feel like having some industrial sized gas tank with huge double regulator chilling outside the fridge.

hey, so does paying 18 to downgrade from a 20lb tank to a filled 5lb tank at a place that only will do exchanges sound stupid?

In my opinion, that would be a horrible move.

20lb tanks go for over $100, easily, and it just seems like you could find a better deal, or find someone to trade with. Try to get two 5lb tanks for your 20lb.

That's what I would do, at least.

I've got 2 20lb tanks, and it's great to have the standby.

i noticed that, but i also noticed that the 5lb tanks go for like $70. i inherited this tank and equipment and am just trying to make a kegerator to fit in my living room. can't have a 20lb tank hanging out by the coffee table. i'll see if i can get two 5lb tanks or a 5lb and a 2.5 lb or something. i wanted to trade with someone but can't find anyone to trade with and the place in town i can get this filled at only does exchanges so getting a new one is pointless.

I'd trade you my 2.5 lb tank for your 20lb tank and pay both our shipping. Thats about all I can offer you since I don't have anything else and I live in Michigan.

I would definitely recommend a 20 gallon C02 tank unless you like going and getting your 5# filled regularly. I have one 20# tank and two 5#ers.

nevermind folks. found someone to trade me to 5# tanks for the 20#
