Kegerator issue

I have a small deep freeze that I bought a vc1 temperature controller for but can't get it to work. The wiring is the exact same as the freezer one I took out so that was easy. However, the compressor runs for ever and the beer freezes. I removed the temperature probe and reinstalled it, no luck. I routed the probe directly into the freezer, no luck. But if I wrap an ice pack around the probe the fridge kicks out like its supposed to??

Got a link to the thermostat you bought?

I would imagine one has to calibrate any temperature controller - especially rather generic thermostats such as the VC1 - before settling in for the long term. There's likely a coarse adjustment screw hiding under a metallic sticker that you could tweak to get the controller to behave...
