Hey guys, looking for clarification before I do my first keg-only fermentation. I know many other threads about this exist, but so many different people and threads refer to different ways of setting up the blowoff. I'll probably be putting about 4 gallons of beer in a 5 gallon keg, with FermCap-S added. I'm using a quick disconnect on the gas-in side, with a hose to a sani bucket as blowoff.
My questions:
1) Do I need to take any parts out of the keg post during blowoff?
2) Do I need to take any parts out of the gas-in disconnect during blowoff?
If I left everything in-tact and didn't take any parts out of the post or disconnect, would I get the blowoff I need?

Reasons why would be great, because I've had some people tell me yes to these questions, and some say no.

Depending on the amount of debris in the wort (thinking mostly about hop fragments) you might consider removing the poppet from the post and the plunger from the QD...

Cheers!

I just got done with my first Corny keg ferment. I left the Gas QD off entirely and fit a piece of tubing with a worm clamp directly onto the post.

This is how I do it. I fill it up to 5g and just accept there will be a bunch of blowoff.

I had trouble getting the tubing to stay on the short threaded area under the post so I unscrew the relief valve and put the blow off there instead. I had a bunch of old 1/2" ID silicone tubing that I had replaced from a sculpture and it fits on the raised part of the relief valve nice and snug.
