i'm about to purchase either a ge or holiday 7.0 (now $162 w/ 10% discount @ lowes) to build a keezer. i want to put it in the spare bedroom where i keep all my guitars and brewing supplies, but i'm concerned about the noise levels associated with the compressor running. can any of you that keep them in the house offer some insight on this? thanks.

Yeah I can't even say that I ever hear mine and it isn't an expensive one. A new one should be no problem.

I don't think these things are noisy, certainly not from the room next door. I'm also in the market for a freezer for my Keezer build, but I did notice most of the reviews at Lowes said it stopped working by around 3 years, and that has me worried. If it breaks the collar is going to be useless unless you buy the exact same model again which obviously would not be your first choice since it would probably be just as unreliable.

Also it doesn't show 10% off on the website. How are you determining the unit is 10% off?

Thanks

I have the GE 7.0 (purchased from Home Depot) in my garage. You can barely hear it when the compressor is running and you'd have to be in the same room to hear it at all.

I have my keezer in my tv/media room. You can't hear it at all but it's on the same circuit as the overhead lights and they flicker as the compressor kicks in.

thanks for the input everyone. i didn't figure it would be bothersome, but i wanted to make sure the swmbo wouldn't have a reason to complain about it (well, at least not about the noise, LOL).

these are my concerns as well. i haven't seen similar reviews for the GE, even though everyone says their basically the same unit. a local store is selling the GE for $189, so i might see if they'll come closer to the holiday's price.

the holiday 7.0 at lowes was $189 last week, but it's $179 this week. $172.38 out the door with the discount. the 10% discount is their moving discount. anyone can get it in about 10 minutes. there's usually a heading in the middle of their homepage that says "save 10% on purchases up to $5,000" with a coupon link next to it. fill out the info and they email you the coupon in a few minutes. print it off and take it with you to make your purchase. here's a link to the coupon form: http://www.lowes.com/cd_Coupon+Registration_253641591_
